When AI Writes the Résumé, Should HR Still Spend Its Time Reading It?

Let AI handle what AI can handle—so Companies and Candidates can spend their time on the trust, chemistry, and judgment that only people can provide.

How much does a résumé still reveal about the Candidate?

With the rapid adoption of AI, it is reasonable to assume that many of the résumés and career histories submitted to Companies are already created with AI assistance.

In the past, writing style, structure, expression—or even the care shown in handwriting—might have offered some insight into a Candidate’s personality and attitude toward work.

That is no longer necessarily the case. AI enables almost anyone to produce a clear, logical, and compelling résumé in a short time.

The document itself therefore tells us far less than it once did about the person behind it.

The value of reading hundreds of polished documents

In that environment, does it still make sense for HR professionals to spend hours reading and scrutinizing dozens or hundreds of documents polished by AI?

I believe the time recruitment teams spend simply reading documents should be reduced as close to zero as possible.

When the first interview is only a conditions check

Even after a Candidate passes document screening, much of the first interview is often spent confirming basics: does the compensation work, do the employment conditions align, is the working style suitable, and do the Candidate’s experience and skills match what the Company needs?

The process then continues to a second interview and a final interview. But should people really be spending their time on document review and basic conditions checks?

This is not only a problem for Companies. A Candidate prepares for the interview, pays to travel, spends an hour getting to the office, sits through an hour-long interview, and then spends another hour returning home.

If most of that interview is only about whether the basic conditions align, the process is deeply inefficient. It wastes substantial time and money for both sides.

Let AI handle what AI can handle

ZipUpp aims to use AI support to bring this kind of waste in the hiring process as close to zero as possible.

Let AI handle what AI can handle. Use human time for the decisions only humans can make.

Make interviews a place for human judgment

An interview should not primarily be a conditions check. It should help answer more human questions: do we want to work with this person, do I want to work at this Company, and can we trust one another as members of the same team?

The recruitment industry is standing at the entrance to a major transformation.

ZipUpp is launching soon. We hope you will look forward to seeing how it turns this new model of hiring into reality.
